Letter to the House 3/1

Dear Honorable Representative,

It is imperative that we restore the $60 million to the film production tax credit program.
A $45 million limit will cut production revenue by 30-50%.
by allegedly "saving" $25 million, the state will be loosing millions in tax revenue.
This $25 million in rebate translates to $100 million spent by production company.
From this $100 million, there is sales tax at 7-8%, lodgers tax at 12%, plus income tax, gasoline tax, etc.
The amount of money spent on these productions is enormous.

I have been doing location management for feature films since 2003.
I have personally recording spending in the location departments for 10 feature films to be approx. $4 million.
Not only do we have the benefit of that direct income for workers and families, we gain tremendous amounts in the taxes collected.
This money is money the state did not have before.
This $25 million is made back many fold, and is fairly insignificant to the $5.4 billion budget.
It takes money to make money, that is what the film program is.
The program not only provides 10,000 jobs, but it makes money for the state.
It is a returning investment for the state and the residents of New Mexico.

We have Kellers accountability bill, and Griego's memorial in the Senate.
We are calling for formal record keeping, investigation, and reporting.
We must not make drastic cuts in the program right now.

Please do not support the budget with a $45 million limit for film production.
Thank you so much for your time,
